Performance West
Group Inc. started as many companies in the automobile industry do; As
a labor of love based upon a passion for exciting automobiles.
Larry Weiner has been creating award winning show cars and racing vehicles
for over 40 years both as an enthusiast, and an industry professional.
After a successful career in the textile maintenance industry in Chicago
that spanned 25 years, he decided to follow his dream, and in the early
1990’s he started what became Performance West Group, Inc.
Moving to Southern California in 1995, Weiner established an office in
Vista, about 40 miles north of San Diego. Merging his experience at building
show cars with his business and marketing skills, he soon had the company
up and running. The first professional Image Vehicle he created, the widely
publicized Mr. Norm’s SuperCharged Ram, was a resounding success.
Weiner continued creating new Image Vehicles in rapid succession, including
the Official Cover Vehicle of the 1998 SEMA SHOW, the Chevrolet “Searing
Silverado,” which was also chosen for the coveted “ SEMA SHOW
Editors Choice Award” by Popular Mechanics Magazine.
Adding to the ever growing list of Image Vehicles, Performance West Group
again created the Official Cover Vehicle of the 1999 SEMA SHOW, this time
the Dodge “Dakarta.” Filmed for the cover of SEMA NEWS near
the Tonight Show studio in Burbank, California with comedian Jay Leno,
the Dakarta was chosen for the DaimlerChrysler Total Vehicle Concept Award
in both the “Best Overall” and “Most Creative”
categories.
Each year has brought similar successes, along with continued company
growth. Today, Performance West Group Inc. continues to build award winning
Image Vehicles that are seen on television, in newspapers and magazines
worldwide and on countless internet sites. Performance West Group Inc.
is also proud to have created SEMA SHOW Cover Vehicles for its OEM partners
for an unprecedented nine consecutive years, while providing vehicle design,
development and public relations services for corporate clients that have

Thompson, Ford Motor Company, Global Hue for DaimlerChrysler Corporation,
