“See the USA in your Chevrolet” was the anthem when the original ’49 Chevrolet Suburban cruised America’s highways. Now, enthusiasts can once again recapture the essence of the Original Sport Utility Vehicle with the Chevrolet Heartbeat Hot Rod.

Created by the Performance West Group Design Team, the new HHR Heartbeat Hot Rod is one sedan delivery that’s as equally suited for the long endless stretches of Route 66 as it winds out of Chicago as it is cruisin’ under the neon in Santa Monica. The original Route 66 may be difficult to piece together today, interrupted by mega highways, but the nostalgia and flavor of the original ’49 Suburban is alive and well in the Heartbeat Hot Rod.

The Heartbeat Hot Rod evokes the essence of vintage Chevrolet, from the Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Planet Colors classic two tone “Color Of Money” paint scheme to the pinstriping and air brushed logo’s. Additional exterior enhancements include a complete sedan delivery conversion by Mike Face Custom Paint and the Teazer Design custom body kit. The Heartbeat Hot Rod features a fully adjustable coil over suspension by KW for the “just right stance,” complemented by a set of classically inspired 18” MC2 “5 Window” Forged Wheels, BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDW tires and a Stainless Steel Brakes big brake package.

Inside the Heartbeat Hot Rod, a Katzkin tuck and roll custom leather interior continues the theme of the original, matching style with comfort, complemented by a Woodview Satin Nickel interior trim package, while an AcoustiSHIELD insulation system provides the perfect environment for the Boston Acoustics Tailgate Entertainment System. Shifting chores for the 5 speed are handled by nothing less than a legendary Hurst Shifter, while a Centerforce Clutch provides positive driveline engagement. Engine performance enhancements by Kenne Bell provide additional power for the Turn Key Engine Supply built Ecotec engine, working in concert with a K&N FIPK System and a low restriction Magnaflow cat back exhaust system.

The original Suburban matched rugged versatility with unforgettable character, and has become a coveted cult vehicle. The new 2006 Chevrolet Heartbeat Hot Rod picks up where the original left off, while adding 21st century technology and sophistication.
